NEWS & EVENTS

WE ARE BACK!

Hopefully everyone has received an email from Steve Birkett regarding our return to running.

The following is what we are currently as of today allowed to do.

For us to be able to run legally and safely the following has to be adhered to:

* run in groups of 6 (has to include a run leader)

* each runner has had to have filled their covid waiver and sent it back to club Secretary Ken ken40eve@talktalk.net

* be a current club member

* adhere to Social distancing

* pre book their club run with their respective group leader (done via WhatsApp)

* each group of 6 meets in a different location.

* don’t run if you have symptoms or are feeling unwell.

All info is in the follow photos.

If anyone needs any new information please contact us or comment on here.

New member enquiries. Please email stev.birkett@gmail.com

We welcome new members, but due to covid rules you have got to be a club member to run with us and we can only run as many groups as we have qualified run leaders available.

However our membership is massively reduced currently.

Come May we can hopefully run in larger groups of up to 30 which should be a game changer and almost a return to normality.

Lastly, remember we may be inspected by the covid police. So we have to be hot on our rules and regs.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

🏃🏻🏃🏻

1. Please introduce yourself.

Hi everyone, my name is Daniel Jaycock.

46 going on 15. My journey into running has really only just started. I was introduced into the club through the lovely Paul Baily. We often met at park run and suggested I join. By this point I’d been “dipping my toe” into the world of Exercise. Having mastered the art of boozing I felt there were other avenues to explore.....

I remember meeting at the Brentwood Center for the first time back in 2019. Every one was very welcoming and I soon settled in. It was so interesting, listening to the stories of races run and up and coming events. It was around this time that Craig Brewster was part way through his 52 marathons in a year. This just blew my mind!!

It opened my eyes to the variety of goals you can set yourself in this running malarkey,, I was hooked.

2. What events, if any do you have coming up?

so I have my first marathon booked in October (Chelmsford) really looking forward to it as I’m desperate to get my first one under my belt. Also doing the Chelmsford half along with the Essex cross country 10k series.

3. What does running mean to you?

I guess running means lots of things, I really enjoy the feeling of pushing my body and the high you get after. I love the fact that so many more people are having a go, I just love to see runners, joggers, shufflers, any one who has put their trainers on and got out, just brings a smile to my face.

4. What is your best BRC moment?

One of my best memories would probably be completing the Bentley 15. A tough race, which pushed me. So much fun.

5. Proudest running moment?

I’ve run the Brentwood half twice now 2019/20. With the help of all those at the club and especially the group A peeps, I managed to take my time from 1:50 to 1:27.

6. Best bit of running advice you can give or have been given?

I’d definitely say to anyone considering running, just do it. Don’t worry. Don’t think. Just pop one foot in front of the other, and before you know it you’ll be hooked.

Extra special BRC members profile today.

Today is long standing club member Jackie Dodwell’s (Woodroffe) birthday.

We couldn’t not celebrate her birthday and her as a person by highlighting her in a member profile.

Happy birthday Jackie

🎂🎂🎂🎂

1. Please Briefly introduce yourself.

My name is Jackie Dodwell ( previously Woodroffe!) I was lucky enough to get married last September.

I joined TGT in October 2004 after a friend at work suggested . I started running at age 25 but didn’t join a club until I was in my 40s

2. What events if any do you have coming up?

I don’t have any events coming up but I’m enjoying being out running and cycling in the fresh air. I’m really enjoy running off road as long as I stay upright. I’m known for taking a few tumbles😥

3. What does running mean to you?

Running keeps me sane. It has got me through the break up of my first marriage and the death of my partner Malcolm. It always makes me feel better. I’m not the fastest but that doesn’t matter .

4. What is your best BRC memory?

There are so many. I have loved being part of the team who work on the water station at the London Marathon: marshalling at club events. Bring part of the ladies cross country team and not forgetting the Christmas Parties and Hash runs

5. Proudest running moment?

Completing 2 marathons ( Paris & Barcelona) I never thought I could do it.

6. Best bit of running advice you could give or have been given.

Always go back for the last runner because they are working the hardest.

Happy birthday Jackie.
